The Design Process
The silk linen yarn was purchased from Silk City Fibers in New Jersey. The coat and trim fabric was created on two industrial knitting machines in the FIT knitting lab. The dress fabric was knit on my Brother’s home knitting machine. After machine knitting the fabric, I draped it on a size 6 mannequin created a knit pattern and it was cut and sewn on an industrial sewing machine at FIT. In addition to being selected for the fashion show the design was also on display in the FIT lobby.
